Yalemget Yaregal is only 20 years old but has already produced some top-class performances over the half marathon distance. The Ethiopian triumphed as a 19-year-old in Fes, Morocco, two years ago with a time of 68:58 minutes. After her first international competitions, she improved by around two and a half minutes to 66:27 at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON a year ago. As a result, Yalemget Yaregal was nominated by the Ethiopian federation for the World Half Marathon Championships in Riga, where she was unable to show her true potential, finishing 28th.
At the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON 2024, Yalemget Yaregal can be expected to improve on her best time.
