Ftaw Zeray

Ftaw Zeray

Ftaw Zeray ran her first international races in 2015 in cross-country. After that, she competed exclusively on the road. Despite a surprising victory in her marathon debut in Hefei, China, in 2019 with a time of 2:29:15, she now concentrates on the half marathon distance. The Ethiopian also achieved her best performance by far.

She made a decisive leap at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON 2021: Ftaw Zeray ran to fifth place and stayed under the 70-minute mark for the first time with a time of 68:30. Since then, she has continued to improve. 2023 was her best year to date. She first ran to third place in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates against very strong competition and set her current best time of 66:04. She then finished a very good sixth at the World Half Marathon Championships in Riga in the autumn, which suggests that she could beat her best time in Berlin.
